Dr. Sanjay K Rai has been a faculty member at the Centre for Community Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India since 2003.
He completed his medicine degree (MBBS) from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur and completed Doctor of Medicine (MD; Community Medicine) from the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi.
He is member of many technical/expert groups constituted by the Government of India, ICMR, INCLEN and Public Health Foundation of India and has contributed in many national health programmes e.g. National AIDS Control Programme, NRHM, RNTCP etc.
Dr Rai has been presented with many awards and honours including “Dr J. E. Park Memorial Oration” of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) in 2012.
He is also been conferred “Fellowship” of IPHA.
Dr. Rai has over 100 publications and is a regular reviewer of many major national and international journals. He was involved in more than 25 research projects
Dr Rai is working in the area of HIV / AIDS and provides technical support to NACO, Mins. of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India.
He is involved in research on human influenza disease burden in India, and vaccine effectiveness trial studies in collaboration with Centre for Disease Control, Atlanta, and University of Alabama, USA
He is current (2013-15) Vice President of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA).Dr. Rai joins the AITSC as a co-investigator, and is leading the rural site of AIIMS in conjunction with JPN Apex Trauma Center for Intervention 2 – implementing a remote decision support system to assist with trauma reception and resuscitation.
