Dr. Satish Dharap graduated from Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital of University of Mumbai in 1983 and obtained a Masters degree in General Surgery in 1988.
He is currently Professor of General Surgery and In-charge of Trauma Service at L.T.M. Medical College and General Hospital located in Sion, Mumbai.
Dr Dharap is the past President of Indian Association of Traumatology and Critical Care (2013-2015), a speciality section of the Association of Surgeons of India. He is currently an ATLS instructor and course director and has also been invited as speaker in several national and international forums which include orations for his work in the field of trauma.
He has several publications to his credit published in national and international journals. He has contributed to international studies in the field of trauma including, the CRASH 2 study conducted by London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Trauma Checklist Study conducted by WHO.
Dr. Dharap has taken keen interest in establishing treatment protocols for the management of trauma patients. He has been involved in trauma education and has conducted trauma care workshops to train surgeons in the fields of trauma resuscitation and definitive care from 2000 to 2007.
Dr Dharap is the site lead at LTMGH (Mumbai site) for the Australia India Trauma Systems Collaboration and is involved in both Intervention 1 – Prehospital Notification and Intervention 3 – developing a standardised Trauma Quality Improvement Program at his site.
